Comments made public. Substack reverts the comment settings every time you change something.

That said, people who don't pay for my work don't really have a right to tell me what to do with my works, snarky email comments aside.

This was going to be a paywalled article, originally, under predictions. I thought better of it enough to warn people of the coming draft for free. Despite the snarky email, I thought better of it to make the comment section also free. I don't have to. We're all poor, no free lunch.

snarky email? I think I'm missing something.

Regardless, another good post. And I do agree; they ARE advertising something big coming. Even down here at the local level they are prepping us for something or other.

Yes, I received an email I could only describe as snarky complaining the comments were not public and free and describing The Daily Beagle as a rag, rather than a 'oh, it appears you might have forgotten to make comments free given practically all your other articles are free to comment on'. It came off as 'how dare you block us poor folks' when I'm pretty confident I'm earning far less than a lot of folks. Patronising and presumptuous with almost an air of entitlement. It made me so annoyed I almost left it as it was.

The perpetrator will remain unnamed, I don't stoop to DOXing or mob behaviour, but I will sharply rebuke them. I'm disappointed that's what they think of my work. I gave away treatment research for free in the previous article.

Ah, got it, understand & agree.

And also agree it's best you don't name the perp; that could backfire.

Good job(s).

Thanks for opening this up! I've been focusing on health lately so I appreciate your time in ferreting out this important information. I wonder if they will increase the age limit here in the US and look instead for qualified and experienced... say in logistics, medical etc.

The Royal Navy is scrapping ships because it doesn’t have enough sailors to crew them

It seems that when it comes to threatening Russia, our political leaders are all mouth and no trousers.

No point in getting more people when you don’t have the most basic equipment:

“For the first time ever in the modern era, the Royal Navy has no active supply ships and currently depends entirely on allies for the replenishment of stores, including ammunition, at sea.”

You can read the full article here: https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/britain-has-zero-active-naval-supply-ships-for-first-time/

The ukcolumn.org has frequently reported on the desperate state of UK defence and is where I heard the above: https://www.ukcolumn.org/video/uk-column-news-17th-january-2024

I really can’t wrap my head around it.... lots of war talk from UK Government dummies but everything has been run down - deliberately - over decades.

Something that occurred to me, based on absolutely nothing but gut instinct, maybe DEWs (directed energy weapons) are now in place and the old systems are redundant - we just don’t know it yet.

The other consideration is maybe their intention is to lose or stalemate, so they have a perpetual meat grinder (hence my war with Oceania reference; it is deemed fictitious and infinite), or, more likely, so they can fire off nukes.

What I find particularly curious is Ukraine currently is almost a stalemate. Russia's momentum, to paraphrase Blackadder, involves 'moving the commander's drinks cabinet 6 inches closer to Berlin'. Ukraine is not on an equal footing with Russia, and even if one were to suggest advanced technology is carrying them, their training in said technology is inadequate.

It sort of feels like Russia are set up so Ukrainians are sent to the frontline, get murdered or captured, then if they're POWs, they get traded so they can do it again, or if that section of society has been murdered, Ukraine "recruit" even more people and send them to the frontlines to be murdered or injured next.

What's also weird is if you check the maps by ISW, the ones in March 2022 don't show Russia controlling the DPR. But the one from Jan 2024 is marked showing Russia controlled the DPR before the war began. Odd, no?

Yes, very odd re maps and I also see parallels with Oceania especially brought home by the reporting of Riley (Edward Slavsquat). I hate to admit it but I almost fell for the “Russia good” propaganda - that they were fighting a just war to save their brothers in the Donbas. Instead I think you’re right, they (both sides) just want a perpetual meat grinder; so many benefits from their perspective: money laundering, population reduction, fear factor, the ‘othering’ of a nation, the list goes on. Do you really think that they want to use nukes though?

God, they are such evil bastards.

I am a free reader and appreciate your generosity. Thank you for the hospitality so I will not insult the decorating. A universal draft in the US with the number of military actions officialdom engages in seems to be a foregone conclusion. Perhaps the women war hawks in government should be required to lead the way by compulsory voluntarism. Once again, thank you

No need to thank me, although appreciated.

I just ask folks not be rude when I inevitably make an error. Substack defaults to the paid model in settings, and frequently reverts. It is extremely rare for me to publish a public article with no public comment access (I may do this if I feel like corporate trolls are going to flood or are flooding; I had to do it for a handful of mRNA articles).

On that note, I do have to publish some paid-for material, otherwise, no income, no Daily Beagle.

"Perhaps the women war hawks in government should be required to lead the way by compulsory voluntarism."

I think all the war hawks in government, regardless of gender or side, should be sent to the frontlines and the rest of us can watch. I could hardly imagine Mitch McConnell making it far.

Why not draft the newly arrived illegal military aged migrants? Give them weapons, train them to kill and our problems are solved. What could go wrong?

Whilst I get the comment is tongue-in-cheek, people have mentioned this as a serious suggestion in one capacity or another, so I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity to detail:

1) Communications. Most of the folks across the border do not speak English, or if they do, not well. Many are illiterate and cannot read or write. A commander is only effective if he's able to communicate with his troops. Yo no comprendo.

2) Morale. A troop with no inclination to fight or win, are not going to fight as doggedly. Migrants are often fleeing warzones and areas of fighting, so they've already shown themselves to be combat adverse. They're here for the freebies and safety, not for the 'honour' of fighting for king and country.

3) Logistics. All these migrants still have to be supplied equipment and weapons.

4) Loyalty. A troop from another culture has no loyalty to the current culture. So if the war calls upon their loyalty, they will either defect or flee to whatever holds to their culture closest. Do you really think the migrants want to defend 'woke' ideology?

5) COVID-19 shot. Still required. Still poisonous.

Has a whole dedicated regiment and a very specifically tailored language training course that would not be acceptable under Woke-Liberal ideology.

That and the French have retreated from large parts of Africa, so obviously not working out for them either.
