On the article exposing RAND (‘research and development) Corporation’s complicity in trying to trigger this war, they plead with the reader to ignore the article of their own undoing, calling anyone calling out the corrupt RAND as a ‘firehose of misinformation’.
A firehose, as if someone like myself could ever match the spewing incest pit of sewage misinformation from mainstream media outlets. How dare I quote their own words. Quoting their own words is misinformation, don’t you know? Evidently, given that is all they write.
Notice there is no definition for their terms, or how they decide to define ‘truth’. ‘Just trust us bro, we're the good guys’. Yeah, sure.
Who Are RAND Corporation?
They are basically a US government funded ‘thinktank’ that writes advisories to the US armed forces, making them the literal definition of government funded propaganda. And naturally, they have warmongering plans for Russia.
(If people want to see the US subterfuge in the Ukraine-Russian war, see Part 2 and Part 3 of the History of Between Ukraine and Russia.)
RAND’s Net
RAND previously wrote in 2019 how they intended to ‘overextend’ and ‘unbalance’ Russia. It’s literally in the title of their document:
Might as well be labelled ‘super evil plans - top secret - keep out’.
In their scheming, RAND lays out their framework that, despite Russia being at peace with the world in 2019, cooperating with the International Space Station, working with Minsk II Accords in Ukraine, selling oil, gas and grain to Europe, and otherwise largely keeping to itself, RAND wants war.
With everything, as their own document notes:
This brief summarizes a report that comprehensively examines nonviolent, cost-imposing options that the United States and its allies could pursue across economic, political, and military areas to stress—overextend and unbalance—Russia’s economy and armed forces and the regime’s political standing at home and abroad.
Now, why would the US, if it is such a peaceful power, want to “pursue” Russia “across economic, political and military areas to stress—overextend and unbalance—Russia’s economy and armed forces”? Bearing in mind this is in 2019, before Russia started anything with Ukraine.
This is tantamount to the US effectively declaring complete and total war. No rationale for this position is given, and even more ironically, the much more aggressive China is given a free pass.
Irony Is Thick
RAND’s “justification” for wanting to attack Russia? Err…
[…] anxieties about the possibility of Western-inspired regime change, loss of great power status, and even military attack.
…fearing the west is trying to overthrow them. Which is exactly what the west are literally planning on doing in this document. Essentially, it boils down to ‘RAND smells Russian blood in the water, RAND wants to attack’. It perceives Russia as being weak. Sounds like RAND are the violent warmongerers in this equation.
Agent Provocateur
Indeed, one doesn’t have to waltz far in the document. Page 4 literally mentions sending weapons to Ukraine:
Providing lethal aid to Ukraine would exploit Russia’s greatest point of external vulnerability. But any increase in U.S. military arms and advice to Ukraine would need to be carefully calibrated to increase the costs to Russia of sustaining its existing commitment without provoking a much wider conflict in which Russia, by reason of proximity, would have significant advantages.
2019 is during the Trump administration. The Trump administration had already approved arms sales to Ukraine in 2017, shipping them in 2019, effectively following on the RAND’s advice. Public advice. That Russia would have been aware of.
Not content on spelling out their intention to finance wars against Russia, RAND even provided a colourful diagram where financing military operations in Ukraine is on top:
“Lethal aid” just a downplay phrase for ‘military weapons’, as evidenced by the Trump administration’s actions. Ironically, the table notes the benefits of arming up Ukraine would be “high” and that they’d have a moderate likelihood of “extending Russia”.
Certainly, they provoked Russia to extend itself further into Ukraine, making the US the clear antagonists by their own documents. Despite this…
RAND’s Advice Is Ironically Ignored
In order to wage war with Russia, RAND proposes something a lot of Americans have been asking for:
Expanding domestic US energy production. They believe if they can crash the net price of oil, then Russia would earn less for oil, and ergo, Russia’s economy would somehow magically implode.
In contrast, the Biden administration has cancelled oil contracts, within Alaska, within the Gulf of Mexico, halted any additional oil and gas pipelines, halted the XL Keystone Pipeline with Canada, with intentions to end any tax breaks for oil producers, with Biden announcing he wants to end oil.
So when zombies parrot the lie to ‘suffer high prices for Ukraine’, actually, the opposite is true. An oil price crash would impact Russia badly. You’re actually suffering the high prices to aid Russia.
That said, RAND basically signed both the US and Europe’s own death warrants because they also suggest…
Sanctions
Within their table from their document, they write to “impose deeper trade and financial sanctions” on Russia. Of course, they would need to create or invent a scenario where that’s justified (enter the CIA in Ukraine).
Remember, this was back in 2019, years before Russia rolled up their sleeves and got heavily involved. Noticeably, RAND’s suggestion has a red mark for ‘high’ under ‘Costs and Risks’. High indeed.
RAND also suggest something else, that Europe just magically import LNG from ‘sources other than Russia’. I guess the magic fairy gnome at the end of the garden?
The LNG risks are marked as “moderate” compared to the sanctions, which given how Germany’s economy is imploding from lack of Russian gas, seems like an amusing understatement. As The Daily Beagle reported a while back, Nord Stream 1 supplies have already stopped, so the lack of gas is driving this market collapse.
It’s odd how the US and EU are executing a plan devised several years before the justification is forcefully created to cause it to happen. However, the plan ultimately failed because…
They Fell Into Their Own Nets
RAND, the US and the EU’s scheming ultimately fell apart. Their effort to “overextend and unbalance” Russia has become their own overextending and unbalancing, with at least $54 billion sent to Ukraine as the US hits negative GDP (Gross Domestic Product; a financial earmarker for how well an economy is doing), as Europe desperately tries to shut off energy usage, and everyone pays more on fuel, with Americans experiencing a 40 year high on inflation, as Europe faces a grain shortage.
RAND, ever so eager and bent on the destruction of Russia failed to consider if they would be destroying themselves in the process. RAND wanted continual war, constantly provoking Russia even during peace time, and instead, the war came to RAND.
Instead of prices dropping and ruining the Russian economy, they increase the market desireability for Russian imports by other countries such as India and China. Instead of driving other countries away from Russia, they drove countries like Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka into Russia’s open arms.
RAND now finds itself caught in the net of their own making.
